Antique Edwardian Era Black Leather Lace Up Boots US 6 1/2AA
Up on the auction block is a truly great pair of Antique Edwardian Era Black Leather Lace Up Boots in the US size 6 1/2AA. The numbers inside the shafts read as follows:
6 ½ AA 77409
and underneath this is
B136
. Inside one of the top bands is faded and embossed in gold “B.H. Packer, Los Angeles—San Francisco—Portland”. The leather is very creased, but very soft and supple. There are very few scratches and all the external seam work appears well intact. On the instep of the right boot above the shoe line is a small indentation. These boots are nicely worn and well broken in, but very well preserved.
The inside cotton twill lining is in fantastic shape, only stained and dingy from age. Both rear ankle seams are loose and opening. The full length tan leather insoles are very darkened in the heels and toe box areas from wear, but in great condition. The leather banding across the high tops and along the eyelets is in fantastic shape, but on the right boot and the second and third outside eyelet down from the top is very loose. The fourth is missing. There are 20 pairs of internal eyelets to lace up. The leather tongues are in fantastic condition and have full cloth backing on them.
The bottom leather soles are worn, but fairly thick and in good shape and with reinforcement tips from antiquity are installed. The wooden and leather covered French Spool heels are very sturdy and have almost all the leather heel pads present. The left heel pad is much thinner than the right.
