For your bidding consideration today, from an estate auction of a long time shoe collector, we have a rare and unusual pair of antique Victorian boots made by Pingree and Smith.  I am not certain what the use of these boots were originally designed for, but it could have been for sporting, riding or bicycling. The upper part of the boot is made of a mesh type of material, with leather around the top, along the eyelets, and a reinforcement strip in the back. According to an ad that I found online, that you can see in the last photo, Pingree and Smith made composite shoes.  They lace up the front to the ankle, and have hooks the rest of the way up. All metal tips are present on the laces. As you can see from the photos, the leather has some wear, there is scuffing at the toes, heels, and all over general wear and color loss to the leather. The soles have PINGREE AND SMITH DETROIT impressed into the leather. They are 17” tall, and they are a small size, and very narrow. When placed up against a wall, and measured from where the heel of your foot would sit to the tip of the toe, they are 10” long, the width of the sole at the widest part is 2 1/2”.  . Check
