    Description

Here I have a Schwinn Tailwind, pedal assist, electric bicycle. It is virtually brand new. This bike was DOA with a bad battery and sat in storage for years. I took it out of storage and assembled it and set it up to ride. I was given an auxillary charger which I was told was supposed to work. I couldn't get it working so I put the bike back in storage where it sat for a few more years. It's time to pass it on to someone else. When these bikes came out they had a 00 MSRP. At the 2009 Consumer Electronics Show in Vegas they were the most high end electric bike on display and most expensive bike ever offered by Schwinn to the public. The large and bulky Toshiba batteries were overdeveloped. New replacements can be had that are smaller and more powerful for around 0. I believe the top speed is around 18mph so it should conform to local laws in most municipalities when riding on the bike path. I believe the original range for this bike was 30 miles. The gearing is made by Shimano which is high end. I was at a friend's bike shop in Long Beach the other day and he was trying to sell 00 bikes by saying that they're all American. Most of the cheaper stuff does come from China and may not be reliable. Schwinn is a name you can trust. Once the battery is replaced this thing should run like a top and it is made with all quality parts. It can also be ridden as-is. It is available for local pickup in the Los Angeles area.
