Title:Antique High Top Shoes
Description:
Presented for your consideration is this unusual pair of antique high top boots/shoes. The shoes are women's shoes and have a two tone coloration with white on the top and black on the bottom. The bottoms of the shoes are made with black leather with a leather sole and 2" tall heel. The top of the shoes are made of very light tan kid leather and has several laces running up the front. The lace eyelets are trimmed with metal on the inside. Interior of each shoe is lined with a light cream colored satin-like material. Interior side wall of one shoe is marked with "The Palais Royal G & 11th St. Washington, D.C." The Palais Royal was a large, well known department store in Washington D.C. that sold dry goods and specialized in "fancy" items such as fans, handkerchiefs, and gloves. They opened in 1877 in the Centennial Building and in the early 1800s they built their own building at G & 11th streets. It was the first building built in Washington D.C. to be solely for a department store and had 5 floors of merchandise. They were in business from 1877 to 1946 when it was sold to Woodward & Lothrop. The label on these boots date them post 1893 as the Palais Royal building at G & 11th streets wasn't completed until then. These neat boots would make a great addition to any antique or vintage clothing collection! Neat shoes to use for a play or film costume!
Some light fraying is on the interior lining, mainly around the opening. Light brown staining is on one side of each shoe. One shoe also has some light staining on the tongue. Typical wear from age and use. Overall in GOOD-VERY GOOD condition. Please refer to the photos for the absolute best details.
Each shoe measures 9 1/2" long, 2 3/4" wide at the widest point and 9 1/2" tall.
Unsure as to size but the sole of each shoe measures 9" long and 2 3/4" wide at the widest point. Possibly a women's US size 5 or 6.
