Vintage Chas Briddell Escape Proof One Hole Trap Newhouse

This is an early trap developed to combat the problem of wring-off when trapping muskrats.  These escape proof traps were made in two variations with one hole and 7 hole pans.  They were initially made by the Chas Briddell Co which was later bought by the Animal Trap Co. who continued to make these traps after they had obtained the rights from Briddell.  The one hole trap trap offered here is an early trap made by Chas Briddell Co.  It is a complete trap with strong springs and the identification lettering all reads well.  This is a good example of an unusual trap.  The trap conforms to eBay protocol that jaw spread must be less than 5 1/2 inches.
