Vintage Early Victor Oneida NY #1 long spring trap Newhouse

This #1 size long spring trap was made around or shortly after 1900 in the Onedia Community factory at Oneida NY.  Traps with this marking were made for a brief period and are scarce.  This trap is in good condition with a very strong spring, complete chain and ring and a great patina.  The pan reads well.  Traps this size were generally used annually in water and both wore and rusted each year so that after a number of years the light pan strikes of that period became unreadable. This trap is one of very few I have seen with readable pan. This trap conforms to ebay specifications with jaw spread less than 5 1/2 inches.
